Thanksgiving has passed, and with it, the whirl of prepping for dinner with family and friends and the annual Black Friday shop-til-you-drop tradition. Actually, I have a confession...I never even left the house on Black Friday. I've done quite a bit of shopping online, and the rest, well, it can wait. I had no desire to join with the masses at the mall.I savored the peace and calm that follows Thanksgiving gatherings. This is a wonderful time of year to contemplate memories of holidays past and all those things we're thankful for. Here are a few of the reasons I'm thankful this year:
1. I'm happily married to a wonderful man who's my best friend.
2. I enjoy many friendships with people of diverse talents and interests.
3. My sons are happy and healthy.
4. My critique partners are the best.
5. My books have reached many new readers this year...I've made many new friends as a result.
6. My imagination is never at a loss for new characters and schemes.
7. Thanks to the US military and allied servicemembers around the world, I can sleep securely at night.
8. I'm blessed with a sweet young cat I adopted from the local shelter. I can't imagine a more affectionate pet.
9. I have a well-stocked e-reader with tons of books to be read...what more could a woman ask for?
10. The new Sherlock Holmes movie is due out in three weeks...my wait is almost over!
I could go on and on, but these are a few of the things that make me happy and thankful this holiday season. What are some things that make you thankful? I'd love to know what makes you happy at this wonderful time of year?
I'll be giving out a free copy of Claimed by the Spymaster to one commenter. So please share your thoughts. Winner will be announced on Monday, November 28.

Happy Sunday Tara! I didn't make it out of the house on "Black Friday" either, though I did go and do some quick and light shopping today..lol
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful for my health and the relative health of both of my parents as they age (we really don't value our health until we lose it).
I'm thankful that my youngest sister and I get alone really well and we were all able to have a really nice family Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday.
I too am thankful for the military and all they do to keep us safe.
And I'm thankful for all of the good books I've read this year, the good books languishing in my to be read pile and the upcoming releases from my must read authors.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Hi Tara, love your list.
ReplyDeleteMine would be pretty much all about family.
Love that my boys are settled with great jobs and girlfriends that I adore.
So thankful that they both live only 10 minites away.
So thankful that they still enjoy coming over for Sunday dinners.
So thankful that my hubby is enjoying his retirement.
So thankful that my parent's are now in good health after a couple of scary months.
Love that all my assorted siblings and their families will be together for our family Christmas event in two weeks.
Thankful that my hubby gave me a Kindle for my birthday this year, that is always stocked with such fabulous stories.

Thanks, Mannouchka! Hugs back to you and your family :)
ReplyDeleteCathy and Maria -
ReplyDeleteLove your lists...I lost my mom three years ago to cancer...you are both so wise to value your parents' health. So many people take it for granted. Once a parent's health declines, it really dims the joy of the holidays.
Thank you both so much for leaving a comment and sharing your thoughts!
Tara
